Catalina Torres

Uruguayan artist, writer, and filmmaker, interested in exploring the complex relationship between people and their environment, focusing on identity formation and issues of gender and LGBT+ communities. She graduated from the Andy Goldstein Creative Photography School in Buenos Aires in 2019, and later pursued a degree in Documentary Film at the National University of San Martín. She holds a master’s degree in Photography and Society from the Royal College of Art in The Hague, Netherlands.

In 2020, she wrote and directed the short film Yo no elegí París (I Didn’t Choose Paris), which was selected for international festivals such as the First Filmmakers Sessions in the UK and the Argentine Film Festival, Festival de Cine Austral. Volver un día (Return One Day) is her first fiction short film, which premiered at LesGaiCineMad. Anoche creí que nadaba (Last Night I Thought I Was Swimming) is her feature film debut.
