Natasha K. Sung
Coming from a diverse background, including a Bachelor’s degree in Science and 10 years of experience as an advertising creative awarded at Cannes Lions, Natasha K. Sung has since pursued filmmaking, receiving an MA in Filmmaking from Goldsmiths, University of London. With unique cinematic language, she looks to uncover the absurdities of life with a sense of humour to deliver a touch of warmth to her films.
Her work widely explores the inevitable theme in modern society – aging, including her student film “Oh! Baby!,” about a couple in a May-December relationship in a near-future setting; the documentary “Grand Riders Born to be Young,” which follows a senior-citizen cycling team on the road, and “Return,” which documents a Taiwanese female rocker in her seventies. The latter inspired her latest short film “Encore Martha,” screened at the 40th Outfest LA Film Festival and many others. With a consistent light-hearted tonality, her directorial debut “Lost and Found” delves into the same topic of aging society on top of loneliness, a bittersweet story about a chance
encounter between two elderlies. It participated in prestigious workshops: 2017 Produire au Sud Taipei and 2020 EAVE – TIES THAT BIND. Additionally, she co-wrote “Terrorizers” with award-winning director Ho Wi-ding, and received an honorable mention on screenplay at the 30th Philadelphia Film Festival.
