Johnny Ma

Born in Shanghai, Immigrated to Canada at the age of ten years old. After working in both the finance and fashion industry, he attended Columbia University Master of Fine Arts as Director/ Screenwriter in 2010. Since 2020, Johnny resides in between Vancouver and San Sebastian Del Oeste, Mexico. Johnny Ma is a film director and screenwriter. He is best known for his debut feature film OLD STONE (2016), which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival. The film won the awards for Best Canadian First Feature Film at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. His second feature TO LIVE TO SING premiered at the Director’s Fortnight Section of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
